Rural companies want to harness digital technology for growth, but finding people with the correct skills is proving to be difficult.
Small rural businesses have it tough and tend to rely more on traditional processes; whether that’s just selling locally, relying on word of mouth, or banking in person at the local branch.
One firm told Real Business that although it has no problems in terms of connectivity, it had to pay extortionate Internet prices to get to that position.
Evolve or die. Grow or stagnate. However you phrase it, there’s no denying the world of business is one built on movement and progress. Yet companies in rural or remote areas of the UK have found efforts to expand stymied. It’s not through failings or limitations, but because of being unable to access a utility that is now recognised as a necessity, not a luxury.
