International Women’s Day may have been and gone. But questions around how to achieve workplace equality shouldn’t only be discussed once a year. Although progress has been made, and laws about to be passed to solidify flexible working rights for employees with young children, within my male-dominated industry, the pay gap between the genders remains vast. As a female MD, it’s up to me, and those like me to take the gender discussion up to C-Suite and other senior levels.
International Women’s Day has been and gone. But the UK still lags behind other world leading economies when it comes to the number of female entrepreneurs doing business. A new treasury led report proposes ways to change that, including the fact that doing so could release billions of pounds back into the UK economy.
International Women’s Day marks, as the campaign’s website explains, “a call to action for accelerating gender parity”. It always takes place on 8 March, each time focussing attention on a different area and this year’s theme is progress.
